Meet Nélia
Barbosa had an outstanding performance at Tokyo 2020, where she represented France in the women’s KL3 event, earning a silver medal. This achievement showcases her talent and commitment, positioning her as one of the leading para-athletes in her field.
Despite the challenges of a genetic disease in her leg (Neurofibromatosis), Barbosa found solace and purpose in kayaking: a sport that not only accommodates her condition but also ignites her passion. The thrill of gliding on water, the exhilaration of speed, and the associated values of perseverance and self-challenge are what Barbosa loves most about her sport.
Her sights are now set on the ultimate goal: winning a gold medal at The Paralympic Games Paris 2024. Achieving this milestone on home soil would mark a high point in her already impressive career.
