Prepay Youth card
Youth cards are specifically designed for teenagers and young adults.
They are a way to bring the convenience and security of card payments to younger people, while also maintaining some tight controls.
Typical features may include:
- Controls and limits – daily, weekly or monthly spending limits can be applied and cards can be reloaded with a set amount of money on a regular basis (perhaps as a way to provide pocket money).
- Parental involvement – there’s often the option for parents to maintain direct involvement in their children’s finances by, for example, receiving copies of statements, or having the option to suspend or cancel the card.
- Financial literacy – a youth card can help younger people to learn about financial responsibilities and realities within a tightly controlled environment. To help teach these skills, Visa also provides online financial literacy programmes.
- Card design – it’s often possible to create or customise your own personal card designs. You may, for example, be able to choose from a gallery, or even upload your own picture to create a truly unique card.
- Online and mobile functionality – most card issuers will give you the option to manage your card account online, or with your mobile phone.
