Overview
There’s no denying that London is a busy city, but there’s a good reason for this – lots of people want to visit it. Throughout the sunnier months of the year, London’s mild climate gives it a surprisingly continental feel, adding an extra dash of feel-good to the phenomenal range of activities.
During summer, the city’s bountiful green spaces fill up with perky Londoners and tourists enjoying the weather. Café tables sprout up across pavements, and balmy evenings make it a pleasure to eat outside at the huge selection of excellent restaurants. You can catch the races at Ascot in June, be awestruck by a BBC Proms Concert or join the party in August at the Notting Hill Carnival
If you budget for taxis and avoid the Underground at rush hour, you can really experience the London you see in romantic movies – leafy opulence around Regent’s Park, creative bustle around Soho and numerous charming residential areas outside the city centre. For example, travel out to Hampstead in the North of the city and on a clear day you can enjoy uninterrupted views of England’s capital from the top of Hampstead Heath.
The extraordinary breadth of London's cultural life, with its world-class art galleries and theatres, buzzing nightlife, and film, music, culinary and fashion scenes, mean that wherever you go in London, whilst you’ll never be far from other people, you’ll also be just around the corner from an unforgettable experience.
